Elite Facilities, Inclusive Play and a Commitment to Physical Excellence

At Kew House School, we believe that sport is more than just physical activity—it’s a vital part of a student’s development. Our aim is to inspire a lifelong love of sport, promote physical wellbeing, and help every pupil build confidence, resilience, and leadership through inclusive and engaging experiences.

Whether on the rugby pitch, in the fitness suite, or learning to row on the river, sport is at the heart of daily life here. Kew House School proudly offers elite-level facilities, a diverse programme, and a welcoming, inclusive ethos that encourages every child to get involved, regardless of ability or experience.

Our Sport Values: More Than a Game

At the heart of our approach to sport are five core values that shape every aspect of the student experience:

  • Choice: Pupils enjoy the freedom to try a range of sports through a flexible, dynamic curriculum.
  • Challenge: Students develop resilience by embracing competition and taking on physically demanding activities.
  • Confidence: We promote physical and mental health, supporting every pupil’s well-being and self-belief.
  • Character: Sport helps instill teamwork, fairness, commitment, and respect—values that last a lifetime.
  • Creativity: Our sporting culture celebrates fun, inclusion, and the joy of being active.

These principles underpin everything we do—ensuring sport at Kew House is rich in purpose, opportunity, and impact.

A Balanced and Inclusive Sports Programme

We take pride in delivering a well-rounded and accessible sports programme that promotes equality of opportunity and the joy of participation.

From our core Physical Education curriculum to co-curricular activities and competitive games, every student is given the chance to develop their skills and represent the school in a wide range of disciplines.

Our inclusive approach ensures that:

  • All pupils participate regularly in physical activity
  • Opportunities to compete are open to all skill levels
  • New sports and activities are constantly introduced to keep things fresh and inspiring

Kew House also offers specialist opportunities in areas like fencing, strength and conditioning, and skills-based training, giving students access to high-level coaching across diverse disciplines.

Competitive Edge with a Community Feel

We believe sport should be both enjoyable and aspirational. Kew House teams regularly compete in local, regional, and national fixtures across a broad spectrum of sports, from football and rugby to netball, tennis, athletics, and more.

Pupils not only hone their technical skills, but also develop teamwork, communication, and self-discipline—key traits that serve them both on and off the field.

Transforming Sport: Our Exclusive Partnership with Trailfinders Sports Club

From September 2025, Kew House School will become the exclusive school partner of Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing — one of West London’s premier sporting venues.

This landmark partnership represents a transformational step forward for sport at Kew House School. Trailfinders’ world-class facilities will provide an inspirational base for training, fixtures, and co-curricular development.

This new sporting hub is a reflection of our values and our belief in developing the whole student, says Will Williams, Headmaster of Kew House School. We know that sport builds resilience, teamwork, leadership and wellbeing. At Trailfinders, our pupils will have the environment to thrive—not just as athletes, but as people.

World-Class Facilities for Every Student

The move to Trailfinders Sports Club ensures students benefit from a dedicated, professional-level training environment. Facilities include:

  • Full-size 3G all-weather pitches
  • Main stadium pitch with spectator seating
  • Indoor 3G training area for year-round sport
  • Floodlit tennis and netball courts
  • Indoor and outdoor cricket nets and pitches
  • Social and hospitality spaces for families and visiting teams

By centralising our major sporting activities at one premier location, we create a more consistent, professional, and enjoyable experience for all pupils.

More Than Sport: Developing Confidence, Character and Wellbeing

Our commitment to sport goes far beyond competition. We believe physical activity is essential to student wellbeing—supporting mental health, emotional resilience, and overall confidence.

This ethos is supported by recent initiatives such as:

  • The launch of the Pier House Fitness Suite (2023)
  • Our partnership with Quinton Boat Club, offering rowing on the Thames
  • Ongoing links with Brentford Football Club and other elite sports organisations

These partnerships and investments reflect our broader mission: to empower students through movement, develop a strong school community, and promote healthy, active living.

Sport, Every Day

At Kew House School, sport is embedded in the school day—from timetabled lessons to after-school clubs and weekend fixtures. We want every student to find “their sport,” whether they compete at a national level or are discovering a new passion for physical activity.

Fixture details and results can be found on our dedicated sports website.

For pupils who prefer individual or alternative sports, we offer options such as rowing, which provides a competitive yet more independent sporting experience.

  • Summer Term: Cricket, Tennis, Athletics and Rowing

Our Sixth Form sports programme expands further, offering a wider variety of recreational and fitness-focused options. These include badminton, gym training, yoga, Zumba, boxing, rock climbing, and basketball—allowing older students to stay active while exploring new interests and maintaining their wellbeing.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Academic Pathways in Physical Education

For pupils who are passionate about sport and physical performance, Kew House School offers both GCSE and A Level Physical Education (AQA) as part of our academic curriculum. These courses provide an excellent opportunity to explore the science of sport while developing practical athletic skills.

GCSE Physical Education

At GCSE level, pupils receive three hours of PE lessons per week, split into:

  • 90 minutes of theory-based learning – covering key areas such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology
  • 90 minutes of practical sessions – enhancing performance through skill development and applied knowledge

A Level Physical Education

Our A Level PE course provides six hours of classroom-based study per week. This advanced course is ideal for students aiming to pursue careers or university study in sports science, physiotherapy, fitness training, coaching, and other related fields.

Expert PE Staff

Pupils are supported by a dedicated team of PE specialists, including teachers who hold Master’s degrees in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology. Many of our staff have also competed in elite or professional-level sport, providing students with first-hand insights into athletic training, performance, and resilience.

This expert guidance ensures that pupils not only excel academically but also gain a deeper appreciation for sport, health, and performance at every level.

Whether aiming for university, a career in sport, or simply expanding their knowledge of human performance, Kew House School’s Physical Education curriculum offers an exceptional academic and practical foundation.

Through expert coaching, first-class facilities, and personalised development pathways, we ensure all pupils—whether recreational or competitive—can thrive within our vibrant co-curricular sport programme.

SPORTS TOURS
International Sports Tours & Educational Travel

At Kew House School, we believe in the value of enriching student experiences beyond the classroom. Our exciting programme of school sports tours provides pupils with the opportunity to represent the school abroad, gain international experience, and build lifelong memories through sport.

We have most recently organised a number of overseas tours, including:

  • An international netball tour to Barbados
  • A football tour to Madrid, Spain

These tours not only enhance team spirit and performance but also expose students to different playing styles and sporting cultures around the world.

In addition to our competitive sports trips, we run a popular annual school ski trip, with recent destinations including top ski resorts in Italy and Switzerland. These trips promote physical fitness, resilience, and personal growth, while offering students a chance to experience winter sports in world-class alpine environments.

Whether on the pitch or on the slopes, our sports and travel programme supports the development of confident, well-rounded young people through adventure, teamwork, and international exposure.
