Kew House U13 Netball Team Win ISA Regional Tournament

U13As Crowned ISA Regional Champions!

Match Report by Charlotte R-F, Team Captain

On Friday 6 March, our Kew House U13A netball team travelled to Reading to compete in the ISA U13 Regional Netball Tournament. Ten schools were taking part, so we knew it was going to be a big day of competitive netball. We were excited and ready to show what the Kew House School netball team could do.

Our first match gave us an unexpected start to the ISA netball tournament. Our scheduled opponents, The Gregg School, unfortunately didn’t arrive, which meant we were awarded an 11–0 win. It wasn’t the way we expected to begin the day, but it gave us a good start and some confidence going into the next game.

Our second match was a proper game and it took us a little while to settle into our rhythm. Once we did, we moved the ball really well down the court and found a great flow as a team. Our shooters were incredibly accurate and we won convincingly, 20–0.

The third match, against Holme Grange School, was where things became more difficult. It started raining heavily, which made the ball really slippery and hard to catch. We made a few mistakes and the game was very close. When the final whistle blew, we weren’t even sure who had won — but luckily the score was 8–7 to Kew House.

Our fourth match was against Reddam House and they were definitely one of the strongest teams at the ISA regional netball tournament. The rain was still coming down and we had to work really hard to stay focused. Despite a few errors, we kept going and managed another close 8–7 win. This meant our Kew House U13 netball team finished top of our group.

In the quarter-final we played St Catherine’s. This was one of our best games of the whole tournament. We played calmly, passed the ball smoothly through the court and defended brilliantly, winning 17–0 to reach the semi-finals.

In the semi-final we faced Holme Grange again. Because our earlier game against them had been so close, we were definitely a bit nervous. We had a slightly rocky start, but eventually everything clicked and we started playing our best netball again. We improved our goal difference and won the match 8–3.

Finally, it was time for the ISA U13 Regional Netball Final. We were nervous but also really excited. We already knew that we had qualified for the ISA National Netball Finals, but we were determined to try and win the whole tournament.

The final was an amazing team performance from our Kew House School netball players. Our defenders were outstanding, intercepting passes again and again to keep the opposition’s score low. Our attackers worked incredibly hard, running everywhere to find space, and our shooters were on fire, scoring almost every opportunity.

When the final whistle blew, we had won 11–6, which meant our Kew House U13A netball team finished the entire ISA Regional Netball Tournament unbeaten and were officially crowned ISA U13 Regional Netball Champions.

A huge thank you to Nina and Ms Doyle for coaching and supporting us throughout the day. We couldn’t have done it without them. Now we are heading to the ISA National Netball Finals with lots of excitement and high hopes!
