Personal Tutor System

At Kew House School, pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do. Our Personal Tutor system ensures that every pupil feels known, valued and supported throughout their school journey.

  • Daily Personal Tutor time brings together pupils from all year groups in vertically structured tutor groups, fostering friendships, mentoring and a strong sense of community.
  • Sixth Form students support younger pupils, helping new students settle quickly and confidently into school life.
  • A welcoming and inclusive environment ensures pupils feel safe, supported and connected from the moment they join.
  • Sixth Form students play an active role as mentors, leaders and role models, promoting kindness, responsibility and mutual respect.
  • Personal Tutors provide consistent guidance, often remaining with pupils for much of their time at Kew House and developing a deep understanding of their wellbeing, strengths and aspirations.
  • Strong home-school partnerships are encouraged through regular communication between parents and Personal Tutors.
  • A genuine sense of belonging is created through the strong relationships and support networks that extend across the whole school community

The Personal Tutor system is one of the aspects of Kew House School that pupils value most, reflecting the warmth, friendship and community spirit that define life at Kew House.

I have always valued the PT system, favouring it over the standard school Form Tutor system. I am grateful for one point of contact who knows my child well and is willing to advocate for them. Year 9 and Year 12 Parent

Vertical tutor groups are great, it gives me the chance to mentor the younger ones and support all ages to create a sense of togetherness. Sebastian Year 13 Student
